Opening Wednesday 23 August, 6.30-8pm
Coordinand: units that are combined in a coordinate construction
Constructed in January 2017 using - old piano pieces, original maps, original hand written documents, some dating as far back at
1870. Wooden numbers, found objects, old book covers and a lot of skill to collect and put them all together.
Glenys is a contemporary fibre/textile artist that works with ‘found’ cloth, namely old wool blankets and silk, old handwritten
documents, ephemeral objects and old maps.
“During the period of time that I was a quilt maker, I struggled with having to conform with the strict rules of quiltmaking.
Always constantly being reminded that my seams were never straight or my points never met perfectly and that I should only use
the traditional cloth, cotton to make a quilt, I found, to my huge relief, that there was another way of expressing my emotions!
Art quilts and contemporary collage! The skill of collecting the items and the patience to put it all together is something of a
challenge but always a thrill to see the finished article.”
