In portraiture, I am interested in interpreting and imagining not the frozen moment of today, but the layers we carry within us of time past, time present and our anticipation of time in the future. As we change ourselves subtly to meet the gaze of others or to express the roles we take on, so too a portrait may vary in what it reveals at any moment.

My visual engagement with the world is a constant movement between the painted and the digital experience. I draw and paint directly in charcoals, ink, watercolour, pastels, and acrylic and then overlay and build up new layers digitally. The final works are rendered as fine art prints on archival paper.
