Fully Loaded Wishing Machine
15 March - 2 April 2017
Opening Wednesday 15 March, 6.30-8pm
The subject matter in Andrew’s latest solo exhibition is a fusion of multimedia, idealisms, feminisms, consumerisms, fashions and,
more importantly, questions the subliminal ‘masculine’ manipulation thereof.
Fully Loaded Wishing Machine explores the oppressive space between the wish or desire and the idealisms transgressed through
media. The place that people have been bound via the over-saturation of media’s self-serving issues, but which at the same time
serve to profit the owners and shareholders of multi-media companies.
The paintings’ images are composites appropriated from the media of the famous or the infamous and fused with those of the
unknown and mundane. The paintings almost taunt the protectiveness of multi-media image ownership, image theft and by
exemplifying the blown-up process of multi-media, scrutinise capitalist propaganda.
