27 March - 22 April 2012
Opening Tuesday 27 March, 6-8pm
This exhibition features the most recent work of photographer Annabelle Hale, returning to Tacit Contemporary Art for her second solo show following her success in 2011.
Grimm is a collection of photographs that explores our remembrance and love of fairy tales that (thankfully) never quite leave us and are inspired by the original versions of classic fairytales such as Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, The Frog Prince and many more.
We all grow up with fairytales: beg our parents to tell us our favourites over and over again. These stories never leave us, stay buried in the deep of our minds until we see a colour, an object, something that reminds us of the stories we loved so much. But there are also darker undercurrents in the Grimm stories so beloved by children, and Annabelle takes her starting point from some of the more sinister lines in the fairy tales.
