Nissine Diete

Nissine Diete B.A. is a Queensland artist specialising in drawing. Her art primarily draws on traditional use of charcoal and ink on paper drawing techniques, repeatedly expanding to include mixed media. She has exhibited in group exhibits nationally and internationally whilst studying, has won several drawing competitions and holds work in several private collections. Nissine has found her visual language through merging disciplines studied and grounds her focus in the ability of line daily.

Nissine spent her youth in Queensland’s mountainous region of the Lockyer Valley. Study brought her to Melbourne were she completed Fines Arts at the RMIT city campus. A move to Merimbula, a regional coastal town of NSW in the pursuit of self-sustainable lifestyle provided the opportunity to engage in architectural technology in theoretical and practical application. Now residing in Far North Queensland working as an Architectural detailer for a tropical sustainable architect, her work solidly contains the merge of the two declines studied.

Nissine’s drawings consist of architectural arrangement of line, weight and contouring of objects – objects that are built from the contrast of patterns collected from textile motif, packaging pattern and plant clipping details. The images are an attempt to construct a pattern from these built objects to create opulence and preciousness in ink on paper.
