GOODWIN 2012 - INSIDE LAND

Spaces

Julie Goodwin

24 July - 12 August 2012
Opening Tuesday 24 July, 6-8pm
Grey Spacer2
Julie Goodwin's paintings deal with spaces, intimate, intense and sometimes slightly weird.

"The inside spaces are claustrophobic with steep perspectives that I have brought with me from my childhood and the associated memories living on a dairy farm in West Gippsland. With this exhibition, I am returning to those hills, to the warm and cosy places under trees and in the valleys that were the cubbies of my early years."

These paintings are layered, intense and deeply felt but at times disconcerting. Meticulously constructed and beautifully painted, Julie also sets out to deliberately put the world slightly awry.

Julie, a graduate of RMIT, has been exhibiting for more than 20 years. Her award-winning work is to be found in The Cunningham Dax Collection and privately collections in Australia, Asia and Europe.

Spaces (Redux) transferred into The Project Space due to popular demand in August.
