Fragments

Lena Torikov

Gallery 4
12 - 30 June 2013

Opening Wednesday 12 June, 6.30-8pm
Grey Spacer2
Lena Torikov returns to Tacit Contemporary Art with an exhibition that continues to explore the possibility of tension and space within a three dimensional surface. Although Lena Torikov is trained as a painter, her current work replaces traditional subject matter and colour with an abstract composition of white shapes. But, in a radical departure, Lena has introduced colour to her work, exploring the variants of tonality to explore extra dimensionality to already 3D work.

Foamcore has replaced linen: brushes have been exchanged for a sharp knife. Without the distraction of colour variation, dependence on the replication of identified forms, her art is playing with the mathematics of form, spaces and the relationship between these.

Fragments is an exhibition of new and older works created in the last 2 years experimenting with surfaces, geometrical patterning and three-dimensional structures of straight lines to suggest and create circularity and rounded voids.
