Oculesics; the study of eye-contact as a form of body language.
I am interested in our inner dialogue, our thoughts and desires which are often unconsciously transmitted through our body language. The eyes play a powerful role in non-verbal communication and words spoken can appear insubstantial unless we look to the eyes to affirm their sincerity.
Throughout art history, 'the gaze' has been a subject of much analysis and debate; a key feature being that gazing deals with communicating and feeling emotion with the eye. This series investigates notions of 'the gaze'; inviting and allowing the viewer to analyse each subject in order to gain a true sense of their thoughts and emotions through the means of oculesics.
