"The exhibition Reverse Counterparts is a graphic investigation into the cognitive processes that occur within the human mind. Memory, perception and the senses all work together to construct or reconstruct our own rendered realities. By using reflection as a starting point I am exploring the idea that you can create two identical images from the one matrix, but with varying results. Memories and thoughts can have the same tendencies, dependent upon subjective mental processing.
My print-based practice involves relief printing with elemental materials. I collect and print the naturally occurring motifs of wood grain, stone textures, alchemic ink reactions - anything with the potential to speak to our sensory perceptions. Neurological research informs my practice as well as my own photography of the motifs. As an emerging printmaker, I am always on a mission to try and test new processes and materials: in regards to Reverse Counterparts, it is graphite and silver inks."
