Sandie Wright is a Melbourne-based sculptor, mosaic artist and mural artist.
Her first solo show Inside Out comprises a body of work made from rubber and resin. After her discovery that golf balls contain a palette of colourful inner cores, she has sliced them apart and transported them to a 2D plane where they now sit nestled in their new dormant state.
The ‘States of Mind’ series relates to the theory of psychology of colour and emotion in a way that reflects the various emotions she feels when playing sport (joy, passion, anguish, confusion and ‘in the zone’). Other works included in the exhibition explore the incredible colour range of the inner cores of the golf balls through pattern and abstraction.
