"My take on 3D is sculptural ceramics primarily using white Raku clay which is hand-moulded into freestanding abstract figurative forms with exaggerated movement and are all individual in their own way. A metallic glaze and enamel accelerates the expressive form, bringing it to the next level. Figures are representing historic feminine fashion, the variety of female form and never to be judgemental on any stereotypical or enforced rules of proportion.
This sculptural ceramic series is based on the Greek mythology Sirens who were dangerous creatures who lured sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Sirens were believed to combine women and birds - and some were hybrid reptilians. The fluidity is their song not only to sailors but their viewing audience! The box platforms and their base are their rocky outcrop."
