Annemarie Szeleczky - 'Floating'

Wednesday 27 November - Sunday 22 December 2019

The title Floating induces thoughts of hovering and drifting through space. Light and airy objects float along with the stronger forces of wind and water: there are connotations of ethereal sensations experienced when floating in the river. With ears blocked, all sounds become strange, muffled and unfamiliar. There is something even embryonic in this concept. But what appears in Szeleczky’s floating world of prints is elegantly inked and pressed trash, presented in layers of delicate texture. It leads to an unavoidable question. What world are we birthing with all this litter on land and in the sea?
