Susan Lowe - 'Habitat'

 Wednesday 4 - Sunday 15 October 2017

“Habitat derives from the Latin Habitare ‘to live or dwell’. Local areas are changing rapidly and I am interested in the change that is occurring within my local environment.

While imagery is predominately abstract there is a conscious and evident use of colour that recalls children’s building blocks and various cultural groups who decorate their communal and private structures in colourful hues.

I hope to evoke insights into who creates human habitation and question if many structures are inclusive and appropriate for purpose. Habitats, with their degree of permanence, become visual markers indicative of particular societies and times.”
