Trevor Tagliabue
Trevor Tagliabue was born in Mooroopna, separated from Shepparton by the Goulbourn River in central Victoria. He gained a Diploma of Fine Art (Sculpture) at the University of Ballarat (the Ballarat College of Advanced Education as it was then known) before taking a post-graduate degree in education at the same institution. Tagliabue exhibited extensively following his degree, primarily in the goldfields and surrounds, including Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Ararat – but also Melbourne, Warrnambool, Mildura. He returned to study in the late 90s, undertaking a BA in Australian Art History and Film at Monash University, followed immediately by his Masters in Australian Art History. The last 10 years or so has seen Tagliabue relocated to the small town of Natimuk, west of Horsham, where he has a studio on a half-acre block of land.

2024 Above From Below
This collection of works is a continuing study of nocturnal activities within a low-relief format. They represent celestial observations gleaned over the past two years. As with past work, Tagliabue has maintained a primary focus on recycling and minimal construction. Highly-crafted, these objects are framed under glass, which not only guarantees protection, but imbues each piece with a much desired museum-like quality.
2019 Nocturne: a Natimuk Narrative
Trevor Tagliabue’s Nocturne: a Natimuk Narrative is a very big collection of very small objects, a cornucopia of intimate handmade miniatures, insectes de la nuit, based on the artist’s nocturnal wanderings on his half-acre block of land in the Wimmera district of western Victoria.
A long-time resident of the small rural township of Natimuk (known as the Garden of the Wimmera) and its ready access to the unspoilt glory of the vast openness of its surrounds, Tagliabue has long been fascinated by the night time activity of nature.
